First match report of the year so bear with, it’s been a while! After a stressful time duct-taping numbers to bibs it was time to push back. It was a tricky start for OCHC as within minutes of push back, an attacking ball had pinged off Tilly’s stick right into Kayleigh’s head, ouch! Unfortunately, this resulted in a short corner, which turned into 3 consecutive short corners. Despite a defiant defence and some cracking saves from Letty it resulted in a goal, DS lead 1-0. Heads held high we powered on and gained some great ground with Liriel sweeping up to Leylia, making fantastic runs up the line into their defence. DS had a solid back line, but we kept pushing with our mid and sending it up to put the pressure on. After a few close calls on goal with Ellie and Zoe making some great attempts, it was half time.
After many jelly babies consumed and a team talk later, we were ready to go again. Fire lit beneath us the push was on. The attacks from mid were relentless coming from Zoe, Lorna, Max, T and Tilly and breaking through to our forwards Ellie, Fleur, Leylia and Lana but they’re defence was on top of it. They had a couple of good runs breaking through our mid but we had Letty having a stormer saving multiple attempts and taking a battering. Our defence was just as strong with Mel, Lisa, Liriel, Kayleigh and Laura having some strong stops and managing to pinch the ball back and push back up. With one last push we kept the ball in their half, but they managed to sweep clear and the final whistle went.
Player of the match went to Leylia for some incredible running and perseverance. Donkey went to Lorna for requesting when our uniform was going to ready. Shout out to our side-line heroes and supporters who came down to watch.
