1XI vs Duchy 2

Off to a good start today, they only had 1 umpire and their captain had to step in. A big thank you to Brian and Steve who kindly helped us out when they arrived.

Nice steady warm up to get our heads in the game, with a new drill to get us moving the ball around and receiving quickly. We were ready to go.

In a good turn of events we started strong and it didnt take us 10mins to get into the game, we knew we were onto a winner. The first goal came in the first 5 mins, I can't remember by who but looking at the goal scorers today I'm going to say Kat, apologies if not!

The triangles worked beautifully today and it felt like we were all coming together and supporting one and other. We pushed forward and used each and every player to work the ball up the pitch. There were some great runs down the wing to help lay the ball into the D which led to many goals. The forwards worked tirelessly to get back in front for the press and to help when the defence/midfield needed an outlet.

Big shout out to Michelle for her stick stops at the top of the D on short corners and I believe the 1st 2 goals came from shorts. We all got a bit excited for the 3rd goal when a penalty flick was given. Lally calmly stepped up and placed it bottom left.

Lots more running in 1st half and 4 more goals.

Half time team talk from the coaches helped us to figure out what we needed to strengthen up.

Second half saw a couple of short corners for the opposition which were kept out by the speedy Tori running 1. Alfie did a great job making sure the defence knew where to be, they may have had a quiet game but they certainly didnt loose concentration.

We had some superb passing up the pitch and at one point the ball was passed about 7 times and it led to one of 6 goals we scored in the second half!

The midfield did a fab job with the new formation, they worked really hard to distribute the ball and get back to put in some great interceptions.

All I can say is the confidence of the team grew throughout the game and we even saw some of the defence stepping up and working the wings.
